Birmingham’s NEC is primed and ready to host yet another fantastic Classic Motor Show this weekend (November 14-16) and Motor-Vision will be bringing you all the very best from the event.
Once again the finest in automotive excellence and motoring magnificence will be on display for lucky visitors, with everything from British classics to American muscle gracing the exhibition floor.
Of course, there is also the live stage, packed with a full programme of entertainment, exclusive interviews, games and challenges, all delivered by hosts Mike Brewer and Edd China of The Discovery Channel’s Wheeler Dealers.
Among the special guests, Saturday at noon will see British racing legend Stirling Moss take to the stage, while television presenter and motoring expert Quentin Willson will address the crowds on Friday and Sunday.
Obviously, what we all want to know about is the cars that will be there. Before we take a look at some of the more spectacular offerings, lets begin with something a little more humble.
It has been revealed that the oldest Morris Minor van will be making an appearance at the show. Recently found in a barn in Suffolk, the model carries the chassis number 685, marking it as the oldest in the UK and Europe.
For any visitor who holds a secret love for these classic vehicles, it’s certainly not one to miss.
Let’s up the revs now, shall we? Classic & Sports Car magazine will be bringing an excellent show for the masses, featuring what is described as the most valuable and significant car ever to make its way to the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show.
The pristine example of a Porsche 917 car, with an excellent racing pedigree and film star credentials is sure to be a showstopper. As part of the theme “The Big Screen”, the world’s best-selling car magazine will be bringing the rather special machine all the way from Spa museum in Stavelot, Belgium to Birmingham.
According to the organisers, the iconic Steve McQueen 1970 movie “Le Mans” will be recreated as part of the show.
As well as being a bona fide star of the silver screen, this particular model has claimed famous race wins including the Daytona 24 Hours and Monza 1000km, while notable drivers such as Derek Bell, Pedro Rodriguez, Jo Siffert, Richard Attwood, Gijs van Lennep and Jackie Oliver have all taken to the wheel.
Another hot ticket at this year’s event is sure to be The Restoration Theatre. If you’ve ever had a dream of taking a box of rust and restoring it to it’s full automotive glory, this is the perfect show.
It is the longest running feature at the Classic Motor Show and it’s no surprise it returns year after year. A specialised team from Leeds City College offer hints and tips to get that motor running and to spiff up that paintwork to a sparkling sheen.

Maybe it’s two wheels rather than four you are after? If so, the Classic Motorbike Show is where you’ll want to be. There’s the notorious roar of the “Wall of Death”, as classic bikes partake in gravity-defying stunts climbing a wooden wall, while vintage, classic and modern classic machines will be on display for a closer look.
