Vauxhall’s Adam range plays a starring role in a short film about British rock and roll, with UK model Abbey Clancy getting behind the wheel.
The Vauxhalls follow Ms Clancy to a gig. In real life she has been following her brother John Clancy around the country for years as he performs as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of his indie band The Razz. Over the course of the film, the idea of expression of individuality through fashion, music and attitude is explored.
It is the directorial debut of James Brown and was made with the help of Vauxhall Motors, who provided him with one of the first Adam Rocks Air cars to feature in the film.
The film captures the fictional band The Vauxhalls who are preparing for a late night show in an unknown location in London. Ms Clancy is one of the band members and Mr Brown tries to capture her in an edgy light as she gets ready for the show. He puts as much focus on her choice of fashion as on the band rehearsing for their performance.
She drives the band around in the Adam Rocks Air as they travel through the nightlife of London to get to their venue. All the while, the film plays out to the soundtrack of Heat is a Beating Drum by rock duo The Kills.
Vice president of design at Vauxhall Motors Mark Adams said about the commission: “The Vauxhalls explores why rock and roll was so influential. As car designers we work within Vauxhall’s design philosophy but still drive for a significant amount of creative freedom, so it’s imperative for us to engage and understand past, present and future trends. Projects such as these help us mould our development for Adam. It’s good to see the Adam Rocks Air on the road, driving through the streets of London with Abbey at the wheel.”
Vauxhall Motors has also created a Behind the Scenes film to document Mr Brown’s debut as a director and the inspiration behind it.
