Jaguar to shine on Regent Street

Jaguar will be one of the main areas of focus at the Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show in central London next month.

A special display featuring iconic anniversary models are confirmed to take pride of place during the free event, which sets up on a pedestrianised section between Piccadilly and Oxford Circuses.

With models such as the groundbreaking XK120 sportscar, Mark V and XJ saloons, as well as other major milestone models in Jaguar’s illustrious history set to appear, organisers hope to pull in more than the 500,000+ people that came down last time.

The Jaguar emphasis for 2018’s event is timely because it’s exactly 70 years since the XK120 sportscar debuted at the British Motor Show at Earl’s Court – just a stone’s throw from Regent Street.

The two-seater roadster combined an affordable price tag with stunning drop-top styling and an all-new six-cylinder engine to put Jaguar on the world map.

Similarly, precisely seven decades have passed since the Mark V launched. This four-door executive saloon was an instant hit with businessmen and even heads of state, boasting a sporting pedigree cemented after it secured a podium place at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1951.

Dazzling examples of both the Mark V and XK120 will be on Regent Street to mark their respective sapphire anniversaries, where they will be rubbing bumpers with a number of XJ saloons.

Along with the annual London Motor Show, Regent Street is one of the capital’s must-attend highlights on the calendars of car fans, serving as a showcase of 125 years of motoring, with veteran, vintage, classic and modern-day cars.
