A new supercar that will be made of specially designed “impact-proof” material is set to be available by the end of the year.
The concept has taken more than five years to develop and the Inferno Exotic Car has been made completely in Mexico under the guidance of automotive firm LTM Hot Spot.
Researchers have patented a new material called metal foam, which consists of zinc, aluminium and silver and can be stretched to more than 100 times its initial size without losing it original properties. This means it is perfect for use for car chassis.
“We believe that this material is suitable for manufacturing luxury sports cars,” said LTM spokesman Manuel Llaguno.
He added: “The market for exotic cars is a demanding one and we want to ensure the success of the vehicle. We are confident we can do it.”
The car will be capable of speeds of up to 245 miles an hour and boast around 1,400 bhp – making it a key rival to many of the widely available supercars on the market – without the risk of body work damage.
There is no word on pricing for the unique car, but further details may be forthcoming when the car makes an appearance at December’s Sante Fe Automotive Expo.
