Whenever you see the letters RS or ST stuck to the back of a Ford, you know it’s capable of whooping the behind off most cars on the road.
But how do you make a fast Ford fiercer? Answer: bolt on a load of parts from Ford Performance.
The blue oval has introduced a new range of high-quality, tailor-made, Ford-approved Performance Parts in Europe, giving its massive customer base the chance to further enhance the look, sound and driving attributes of their cars.
The first wave of specially-developed, Ford warranty-approved Performance Parts upgrades are available through the Ford dealer network right now, and can be fitted by specially-trained technicians at any Ford dealer.
What can you add to your ST, RS or Mustang?
Gearshift knob selection:
Fancy a carbon fibre gearknob? Or how about a short-shift gear-linkage for your manual Mustang that cuts gearshift travel by 20 per cent for a sharper, sportier feel?
Adjustable coilover strut and shock absorber kits:
These can reduce ride height by up to 40mm and come pre-assembled for optimised driving dynamics.
Premium light alloy wheels:
These are flow-formed rather than cast to deliver a reduction of up to 15 per cent in unsprung mass, and are specially designed to complement the Ford Performance adjustable coilover kits. These 10-spoke wheels are offered for Fiesta, Fiesta ST, Focus and Focus ST, in sizes from 17 to 19 inches depending on the model.
High-grade stainless steel exhaust systems:
Manufactured by Borla, Mustang drivers can opt for road-legal or track-only variants with chrome or high-gloss black tailpipes.
Mustang GT Performance Calibration Power Packs:
These can boost the engine rev limit of your Mustang V8 to up to 7,500rpm.
Mustang V8 supercharger kit:
Developed with Roush Performance, this enhancement boosts power output past 595bhp.
This may only be the first batch of Performance Parts, but Ford has already revealed it will flesh-out the range in 2018 to cover more Ford models and include new components.
Fabio Carafa, Ford of Europe’s vehicle personalisation director, believes the Performance Parts will result in even more satisfying driving experiences for Ford enthusiasts.
“Ford Performance customers are telling us they want to further personalise the driving dynamics, performance and style of their vehicles,” he commented. “We’ve specifically developed our Ford Performance Parts portfolio to meet that need.”
