It’s safe to say that electric supercars are no longer a futuristic dream. They are out there on our roads right now and it seems every manufacturer is working on a concept right now. Here are five of our favourite hybrid and electric supercars.
BMW i8
A hybrid sports car designed to turn heads and impress anyone who negotiates the awesome dihedral doors and climbs into the driving seat. The BMW i8 is a comfortable hybrid that is a joy to drive, combining performance and tech to provide a great all-rounder with gorgeous supercar styling.
Ferrari LaFerrari
Ferrari’s stunning hypercar was limited to a run of just 499 and this sought-after model is definitely a worthy successor to the Enzo. The LaFerrari has a top speed of 217 mph and produces maximum power at all times, thanks to the combination of F1 racing tech and a super power unit.
McLaren P1
Lightning fast, aggressive and hard to tame – that’s why we all love the P1! It’s full of clever features that you need a manual to fully get to grips with and boasts a 0-62mph time that is 5.5 seconds less that the McLaren F1. The electric motor bumps up the stats to an impressive 727 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque.
Porsche 918 Spyder
Porsche is known for elegance and precision, strengths that lend themselves very well to crafting a supercar such as the 918 Spyder. Fitted with a V8 and electric motor to the front, it delivers 887 horsepower but never feels out of control. The interior is filled with all kinds of welcome features, including a complete sound system, unlike many other supercars.
Tesla Model S
The Model S is a quick, practical electric car that can help you drive and park with ‘Autopilot’, leaving you to sit back and just enjoy the journey. This luxury saloon is responsive, comfortable and has great short-burst acceleration. Subtle exterior styling and an attractive interior make this less ‘flashy’ but give a more executive feel overall.
