Renault has unveiled a new limited-run Clio based on the rowdy R.S.220 Trophy model.
The Clio R.S.18 is inspired by this year’s Renault Sport Racing Formula One Team racecar of the same name and has a distinctive black theme with hallmark Renault Sport liquid yellow highlights.
Under the bonnet is the same engine and transmission as the Clio R.S.220 Trophy: a 1.6-litre 217bhp petrol engine that can blast the hatchback off to 62mph from rest in 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 146mph when mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
In addition to 217bhp of power, the engine can produce up to 220Nm of torque and returns 47.9mpg whilst emitting 136g/km of CO2 on a combined cycle.
Style over extra pace
Rather than offering a more biting performance, the Clio R.S.18 takes the stylistic route to set itself apart from the rest of the Clio Renault Sport range. As such, it features a distinctive deep black and liquid yellow colour scheme, while the Renault diamond, R.S. logo and rear diffuser are all finished in black gloss.
There are also R.S.18 diamond decals on the front doors and roof, providing a direct reference to the look of the R.S.18 Renault Sport Racing Formula One Team car, as well as liquid yellow detailing on the front blade, protective side mouldings and wheel centre caps.
Inside, you’ll find an alcantara and leather-trimmed steering wheel and carbon fibre-effect air vent surrounds, which contribute to the cabin’s premium, yet sporty, feel. Renault Sport-branded carpet mats are also standard.
Super-rare
Only 15 examples will make it to the UK, making the R.S.18 one of the most exclusive Renault Sport versions to have ever been sold here, and each Clio R.S.18 comes with a numbered kick plate.
The limited-edition Clio is priced at £24,295 and you can try your luck by placing an order now with a view to receiving the car mid-June.
