Performance Direct Non Standard Awards winner Paul Archer, from team It’s on the Meter who recently broke the World Record for the longest ever taxi journey, was seen again on TV in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games – and surprise-surprise he was in a Taxi.
Sponsored by the Performance Direct Non Standard Awards, the team have already broken the world records for the longest ever taxi journey and the highest altitude taxi fare at Mount Everest base camp.
We were wondering what the boys would get up to next but we weren’t quite expecting their next endeavour to be in another taxi though.
It was nice to see that even in the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games 2012 that British world record holders were getting featured in addition to the many gold medals won by Team GB, even if the crowd and commentators were seemingly unaware of Paul’s multiple world records.
Unfortunately ‘Hannah’ the world record breaking taxi wasn’t featured but then she’s had a bit of a hard life since team It’s on the Meter got hold of her and drove her around the world via some of the most challenging terrain that anyone has attempted to drive a London Taxi over. Luckily the Olympic Stadium provided a slightly shorter and easier drive albeit with the added pressure that millions and millions of people were watching.
Paul Archer, was seen twice during the closing ceremony. Firstly he managed to grab a little chunk of TV screen time with some rather enthusiastic waving and cheering whilst wearing a newspaper covered T-shirt and cap and leaning out of the newspaper covered Taxi. Secondly he was involved in delivering The Spice Girls to sing ‘Spice up your life’ to the massive Olympic crowd.
The video shows a wonderful insight into the massive organisation the went on behind the scenes to deliver a spectacle that London has never seen before. It may be some time until we see something on that scale again in our capital city. Well done Team GB. Well done Team it’s on the Meter. And well done to Paul Archer for helping to give the Olypic games a great send off.
We can’t wait to see what Paul and the boys are going to do next and whether or not it’ll be in yet another taxi.
