The next two events in the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) are coming down to Northamptonshire and they could make all the difference for the rest of the season.

BTCC - Ready to Rock

There are only nine races left of the season and three of these are due to take place at Rockingham, which means that drivers will need to move quickly if they want to have a grasp at the title in the last two events at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

At this weekend’s events at Rockingham (September 6th and 7th), the grandstands are expected to be packed with fans as they take in panoramic views of the track. The weekend of practice, qualifying and racing is also accompanied by plenty of live music.

Currently, eBay Motors driver Colin Turkington is at the top of the standings, having seen six wins and 13 podium finishes so far this season. Another driver in contention is Gordon Shedden of Honda Yuasa racing, who has come in the top seven for every race except for the last one at Knockhill.

Jason Plato (GBR) MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save MG6 GT

Jason Plato of MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save could also take the title yet, having seen three victories so far. However, he will need to perform well at Rockingham if he wants a chance at the third title of this career.

Other drivers that have had performed well lately are Turkington’s racing partner Rob Collard, who won last time at Knockhill and is now in fourth position. However, as he nudged ahead of reigning champion and driver for Pirtek Racing Andrew Jordan, many believe that it is only the top three drivers in with a chance for the title.
