In general, cars that are in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) can be intimidating, even to those who are seasoned drivers around the circuits. However, Volvo has just produced what’s being known as the world’s safest safety car in the shape of the V60 Polestar.

The new car, which has been certified in an agreement with the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) will be starting in the opening of the season at the WTCC Race of France at Circuit Paul Ricard, which will take place between April 1st to 3rd.

Making the car the most robust safety vehicle to cross the WTCC starting line, the Volvo V60 Polestar Safety Car features modifications with mandatory safety equipment.The crew who will be handling the vehicle consist of a driver and observer who intend to lead the WTCC field ahead of the impending races. In terms of the Polestar’s body it benefits from from a roll cage and it’s packing rescue and communication equipment to enable it to meet strict technical and safety requirements according to the FIA and WTCC promoter Eurosport Events.

The Volvo V60 Polestar has been a long time coming as it’s been developed over 20 years of motorsport experience and exactitude. Further boosting the car’s safety credentials, the Polestar has been awarded a five-star rating by Euro NCAP, one of the toughest judges of safety in the automotive industry.

The car is guaranteed to perform well under any weather conditions thanks to attention to detail concerning its engineering, which will see it give a performance that is confident and precise. Polestar will be entering the FIA WTCC with Cyan Racing, the model’s motorsport partner, with two newly developed Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 race cars, based on the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar road cars.

For those who are motorsport enthusiasts the WTCC season consists of 12 race weekends on four different continents. Other manufacturers taking part include Citroen and Honda, who will be competing against Volvo for the World Title of touring car racing.
