Morgan’s Aero 8 is on its way out, but the slick retro roadster is having one last hurrah with the new limited-edition Aero GT.
Just eight examples will ever be built, each being individually bespoke to customer specification, guaranteeing a very significant piece of Morgan history for every Aero GT owner.
Under the bonnet is the same 367bhp BMW N62 V8 engine used in the standard Aero 8, which helps the Aero GT reach 62mph in 4.5 seconds before heading on to a top speed of 170mph.
Each Aero GT will be built with Morgan’s latest adjustable suspension and come linked to a six-speed manual transmission.
All eight will come in that striking ‘Miami Blue’ shade too, which perfectly complements the Aero GT’s aggressive body styling.
Morgan says it has sculpted the car’s striking body panels with the aim of expressing tension and elegance in each line, while every panel has been created using the technologically advanced ‘superforming’ process synonymous with modern Morgans.
The front canard details and wing top louvre vents have been reworked to reduce low pressure on the sides of the Aero body and deliver notably more frontal downforce.
Around the back, there’s a dramatic diffuser that reduces air pressure from beneath the vehicle, increasing rear downforce and reducing the visual weight of the rear-end.
Aero 8s are differentiated by their standard counterparts with finite enamelled ‘GT’ badges, individually handmade by a British Jeweller, while the interior is hand-finished with a series of painted stitching and pinstripe accents and an extended choice of wood options.
“Every Morgan is built to an exacting specification and is bespoke to each customer and the first Aero GT off the production line looks superb in every way,” said Steve Morris, managing director of the Morgan Motor Company.
