For a taste of motorsport history, war time vehicles and a James Bond car, the Goodwood Revival history is set to deliver.
Running from September 12th until the 14th, visitors will be able to check out iconic 1940s, 1950s and 1960s vehicles as they take to the legendary track. There will be plenty of other rare events to see over the weekend too.
The Goodwood Motor Circuit was once an RAF base and to commemorate 75 years since it gained this title, the West Sussex at War display will be held. It will feature a 600 vehicle and personnel parade as well as a flypast that includes two Lancaster bombers.
Goodwood Revival will also play host to one of the world’s largest gatherings of Jaguar D-types, to celebrate 60 years of the vehicle. This will include a pair of parades that will feature 33 machines.
An Aston Martin DB5 and the helicopter used in the James Bond film Goldfinger by the character Pussy Galore will be on show. They are going on display to celebrate 50 years since the release of the film.
The golden anniversary of the discovery of Sir Jackie Stewart will also be celebrated, which is particularly fitting as it was on the Goodwood track where this happened. On each day of the festival, there will be a parade of 23 of his competition cars, including the Cooper F3 that he drove at Goodwood for the first time in 1964.
Those who are fans of Mods and Rockers culture will also get to reminisce about the summer of 1964 as there will be an installation of Brighton Pier, as well as a parade on Friday morning. Leading the parade will be Quadrophenia star Phil Daniels.
There will also be a life-sized installation of Stonehenge to celebrate 50 years since the Order of the Bards, Ovates and Druids.
What’s more, there will be a versatile V8 in the central concourse of the 1960s Earls Court Motor Show.
