The latest Toyota GT86 is set to go on sale next month and we have everything you need to know about Toyota’s sports car.

At first glance you may find it hard to tell the new from the old, we certainly did! However, Toyota state they have completely ‘’remade everything’’.  The most noticeable is the exterior upgrade and the longer front grille, giving the car a more aggressive and sporty look, but more importantly improving its air flow.

Toyota have revised the rear end, with a new spoiler and lights. The GT86 now comes with LED lights and auto headlights as standard, with an overall stiffer and stronger chassis., including 17’’ alloy wheels.

Inside the car, the GT86 has a new 3-spoke leather steering wheel, leather and Alcantara upholstery which seems to be most manufacturers favourite at the moment for their new releases. A new touch multimedia system comes with 6 speakers and the car comes compatible with smart entry and push button start.

The 2.0-litre, 197bhp petrol engine is identical to the 2016 model, however Toyota have emphasised their desire to improve the car’s handling, with chief designer Tetsuya Tada saying ‘’The biggest point I wanted to improve was the car’s responsiveness’’. Toyota has achieved this by tweaking the shock dampers and springs to improve handling and maximise drive comfort.

Toyota are offering customers the option to build their own GT86 on their website, very similar to Nike ID. The four categories of customisation are: model and engine, exterior, interior and accessories. There is a large variety of options to pick, from the engine to upholstery and an option to have a unique GT86 that’s truly yours.
