It’s always an exciting moment when the new James Bond film is announced, but for many it’s far more exciting to find out what 007 will be driving. The 24th Bond film will be titled Spectre and is the follow-up to 2012’s Skyfall and will be Daniel Craig’s 4th outing as Bond, giving us a new edgier spin on the normally suave and clean-cut British Secret Service agent.

Aston Martin and James Bond have enjoyed a perfect relationship since the DB5 made its debut as a Bond car in 1964’s Goldfinger. Suffice to say, that the joining of Bond and Aston Martin was a match made in heaven then and continues to be so now; Aston Martin has become much like the ravens at the Tower of London – you really can’t have one without the other.

Spectre coincides with Aston Martin and the Bond franchises’ 50th collaborative anniversary and to celebrate, Aston Martin has just unveiled the new DB10 – the official Bond car for the occasion.

Only ten DB10s in total will be made, and the unique 2-door coupe has been designed specifically for the film in collaboration with the filmmakers and Aston Martin’s team of designers. The car is a work of art, and was revealed by Bond director Sam Mendes and film producer Barbara Broccoli at the official press launch for Spectre recently.

Of course, this is also a great opportunity for Aston Martin to reveal the next stage in their design plans, telling us that the DB10 provides a tantalising glimpse of what is in store for the company’s future.

While we might logically expect that the DB10 might herald the next step on from the DB9, the manufacturer has hinted that the DB10 more realistically hints at the future of the Vantage V8.

The DB10 is powered by a 4.7-litre, eight cylinder engine and sports carbon fibre panels, though not much more detail has been made available to the public as yet.
