For those who are lucky enough to have the money available to invest in a new Range Rover, it is likely they will want a certain amount of exclusivity for a model they have decided to shell-out so much for.
Now, manufacturers Land Rover has announced that its latest model will be the ultimate luxury vehicle and will feature a number of truly exclusive specifications to increase it customer appeal.
A brand new Range Rover featuring a long wheelbase is expected to cater for those looking for a unique alternative to similar saloon cars in the segment. Legroom for those in the rear of the vehicle is increased by 140mm in addition to increasing the recline to 17 degrees. Furthermore, an executive seating package offers more comfort and space for owners.
The extended wheelbase will be released in the latest models from the brand, named the Autobiography and Autobiography Black, and will be presented to motoring enthusiasts at the Dubai motor show in November. It has been suggested that the car will be even more refined and luxurious than any of its previous incarnations.
In addition to increased space and improved comfort, the car will also feature new interior craftmanship, which the manufacturer describes a “subtle but distinctive”, using high quality leathers and materials. The exterior also features unique stylings that make the latest model just that little bit more special.
Phil Popham, group marketing director for Jaguar Land Rover, said the model is the most decadent yet, including “sophisticated design with immaculate attention to detail”.
“With the addition of the Range Rover long wheelbase to our portfolio of luxury SUVs, customers can now choose a vehicle that offers superior levels of interior space and comfort to compete in a market dominated by saloon cars up until this point.”
A long wheelbase Range Rover will also be on display at the LA Auto Show on November 20th, before making an appearance at a Guangzhou based event on the following day.
The increased space has been achieved through a lengthened bodyshell in front of the rear wheels, while the signature floating roof is featured as part of the vehicle’s clever packaging to keep the silhouette unique and recognisable.
Drivers can choose whether they will have the car with individual Executive Class seats in the rear or a bench design.
While maintaining top quality levels of luxury, the model will remain functional and convenient, incorporating powered side door blinds and a panoramic sunroof, while upping the available room for stowage.
Managing director of the Individual Products Division at Land Rover John Edwards said: “The Range Rover Autobiography Black is an opportunity to harness the strong emotional connection that Land Rover has with its customers the world over.
“This exclusive vehicle has been developed by the specialist Engineered to Order team to offer our customers an unrivalled and luxurious driving experience that provides a seamless integration between the needs of business and leisure.”
Gerry McGovern, design director and chief creative officer for Land Rover, said the manufacturer is taking luxury to another level with its latest designs and the brand is focused on responding to customer’s desire for choice and exclusivity.
“The highest standards of precision detailing, together with the use of the finest crafted materials, have been achieved inside and out. Autobiography Black represents the pinnacle of desirability in the world of luxury inhabited by our Range Rover customers,” he added.
Land Rover has recently picked up an award from the Northern Group of Motoring Writers, achieving the Car of the Year Award after compiling votes from some of the leading motoring journalists.
