The Peugeot 308 is about to get more dynamic, with new performance models in the form of the Peugeot 308 GT set for release.
These cars are available in either hatchback or SW body styles and both feature new styling, a lower ride height, performance-oriented engines and a bespoke chassis.
The new models maintain some of the characteristics that have made the Peugeot 308 popular, such as the Peugeot i-Cockpit cabin, versatile interior and excellent energy efficiency.
The Peugeot 308 GT has received enhanced chassis settings. Its ride height has been lowered by seven millimetres at the front and ten at the back.
Powering this car is a four-cylinder 1.6 litre THP 205 Stop and Start petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox. It can deliver 285 Nm of torque, which is available between 1,750 rpm and 4,500 rpm. What’s more, its carbon dioxide emissions sit at only 130 g/km, while in terms of fuel consumption it can get 50.4 mpg.
Alternatively, buyers can select the four-cylinder two litre BlueHDi 180 diesel engine. The car’s maximum power is 180 hp at 3,750 rpm, while its maximum torque is 400 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It offers better fuel economy and even lower emissions than its petrol counterpart. With this engine, the car produces 103 g/km of carbon dioxide and its official fuel consumption figure is 70.6 mpg.
The diesel engine is attached to an EAT6 six-speed automatic gearbox. It can get almost the same efficiency as a manual gearbox because of its reduced internal friction and the use of torque converters that can be used to stop transmission from slipping.
In terms of style, the car has been fitted with top-of-the-range headlights that are made up of 62 LEDs. It also has direction indicators that are exclusive to the Peugeot 308 GT. They have a sequence of lights that moves from the inside to the outside of the car.
