As the Goodwood Revival gets underway this weekend (September 12th to 14th), the real stars of the event are the iconic cars that will be gracing the track.
There will be a mixture of vehicles from historic luxury car brands, iconic cars from motorsport history and some that even predate the Second World War.

With the Ford Mustang celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, this is being celebrated at the event. A total of 18 examples of this car will be pitted against each other in a special Shelby Cup race.

Similarly, the race-winning Jaguar D-type is celebrating its 60th anniversary and 33 examples will be parading around the Goodwood Circuit to celebrate. What’s more 20 D-types will race in the Lavant Cup.

Maserati is also celebrating its centenary this year and will see 16 cars paraded to mark the occasion, while 11 250 Fs will race for the Richmond Trophy.

In tribute to racer Sir Jackie Stewart, his 1969 F1 Championship-winning Matra-Cosworth MS80 will appear at the event, alongside a collection of Ford Escorts, BRMs and Grand Prix Tyrrells.

Racing for the Goodwood Trophy will be a 1935 ERA A-Type R4A, showing off an example of pre-war engineering. It will be going up against other ERAs, Bugattis, Aston Martins and a number of other great racers from the 1930s.

For this year’s Earls Court Concours display, the theme is The Versatile V8. As such, there will be around 25 V8-powered passenger cars on show, including a rear-engined Tatra T87 from 1946.

Ferrari fans will be interested to see four examples of the 250 GT SWB/C as they compete in the two-driver Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race. They will be going up against cars from Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lotus and others.

Bringing an example of American motor engineering to the Freddie March Memorial Trophy race will be a 1953 Cunningham C4R.

A 1959 Aston Martin DBR1 will also make a return to Goodwood to take part in the Sussex Trophy race.
