As the summer continues Ferrari has revealed details of the new 488 Spider.
It is expected it will be the most powerful ever mid-rear-engined V8 car to be fitted with Ferrari’s retractable hard top (RHT).
The RHT offers a more enjoyable ride compared to a traditional fabric soft top and is popular with those who want a practical but fun convertible.
Ferrari’s 44 Spider will offer the same 3902 cc turbo-charged V8 used on the 488 GTB and will be capable of 0 to 62 mph in three seconds, yet it will offer lower emissions compared to the previous V8 option.
The upgraded engine means that Ferrari have had to completely redesign many parts of the car to accommodate the extra power, this means a change in aerodynamics to reduce overall drag. It has also been fitted with an electric glass wind stop that can be adjusted for maximum comfort.
“This is a car that is aimed squarely at clients seeking open-air motoring pleasure in a high-performance sports car with an unmistakable Ferrari engine sound,” explained the prestigious car maker.
Ferrari’s official unveiling of the new 488 Spider will take place at the forthcoming Frankfurt International Motor Show in September but there are plenty of pre-launch images to keep Ferrari fans happy in the meantime.
