Aston Marting Vanquish - 60th AnniversaryThe first of these cars has already been revealed. It was introduced on Friday December 12th at Aston Martin Works’ customer Christmas party. Some of the defining features of each of these cars is their paint and trim treatments as well as their bespoke rotaries around the controls of the centre console.

Each of the rotaries has been cast from metal that was previously a piston in an Aston Martin engine from the period that the car represents. For example, in the 1955 to 1965 model the rotary is made from a piston from the DB 2/4 Mk II saloon, in the 1965 to 1975 there’s a DB5 piston and in the 1985 to 1995 version it’s a piston from a V8 Coupe. The pistons were sourced from engines that were rebuilt or reworked at some point. These rotaries have then been etched with Works’ Anniversary wording.

The process of building the Aston Martin Works 60th Anniversary models started during July 2014, with Works team and designers meeting at the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon to discuss plans.

Leading design direction was the Aston Martin design team, who were led in turn by chief creative officer Marek Reichman. Q by Aston Martin was in charge of the bespoke parts of the car.

Commercial director at Aston Martin Works Paul Spires said: “This project has been a harmonious co-operation across the whole business, developed uniquely to celebrate 60 years of Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell.

“I’m thrilled to be unveiling the first of these cars at our Christmas celebration, and look forward to seeing the remaining models being built and delivered to customers throughout the course of our anniversary year in 2015.”

General manager of VIP and Q by Aston Martin Sales Dr Matthew Bennett explained that the colours of each of the cars was carefully chosen to represent the progress of Aston Martin over the past six decades.

He added: “Celebrating the past, but pointing very much toward a bright and exciting future, too, these Vanquish models will, I’m sure, very quickly become a notable feature of the brand’s history at Newport Pagnell.”

Among the features that make the cars instantly identifiable as Works Anniversary cars are their yellow side strakes and alloy wheels. Each car also has an Aston Martin Works 60th Anniversary logo that was designed by the team at Gaydon and etched into the sill plates.
