Her husband is a member of the US military and a car enthusiast who was working on tuning up his Skyline. However, he hated the silver colour of the car and said that, after white, it was his second least desired car colour.

He had it in mind to paint over the car from the start. While selecting a colour scheme, he let his wife doodle over the scratches of the car bumper one night only to find the next morning that she had created some intricate, elegant drawings that they wanted to create more of.

The petrol head worked away on tuning the mechanical side of the vehicle while his wife worked to redesign the outside of the car with her pen. Following 100 hours of work and a number of clear coats to protect the design, the two presented their finished car as a team.

Among the details that she included in her design on the car was a crown over the GTR logo, the the word ‘Skyline’ in Japanese on the spoiler as well as wings on the sides and door mirrors. Wings on the wings, you might say. She also made sure to include the Lost Birds Racing logo on the bonnet as well as a number of birds hidden in the design. On the doors she drew sets of large feathers

In terms of training, the artist has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Hawai’i, however she studied glass blowing for the majority of time that she was there.

Since work began on the design, the car has been featured in a magazine and has been taken to a number of events, including the Sendai TT race where the car’s owner came in second place.
