It was around this time last year that we were buzzing with excitement over the impending reveal of the Alpine A110 – a sports car that marked the return of Renault’s sub-brand.

One year on and the lightweight mid-engined sports car is on the verge of entering UK showrooms. That alone is reason enough to smile but now comes the news that the A110 will be available in two additional ‘flavours’.

A110 Legende and A110 Pure

These new trim levels – Pure and Légende – are expected to be revealed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, due to open on March 7th.

Alpine says the Pure and Légende versions of the A110 will “remain true to the brand’s timeless principles of compact size, lightness and agility” – but how are they different?

Well, both versions boast the same full aluminium structure and 248bhp 1.8-litre engine that’s capable of blasting to 62mph in 4.5 seconds. This unit comes mated to a wet clutch, seven-speed dual clutch transmission gearbox with double wishbone suspension front and rear.

However, the ‘Pure’ trim will represent the A110 at its lightest and most driver-focused.

Alpine say this version is “destined to live its life on winding mountain roads and retains the Première Edition’s minimalist yet high-quality approach”.

Considering the fact that the A110 is already impressively light, tipping the scales at just over a ton (1,080kg), it’ll be interesting to see just how much weight the Pure model sheds.

The second new A110 – the Légende – is said to add more refinement and sophistication for everyday driving or long distance touring.

It’ll come as standard with six-way adjustable lightweight Sabelt seats, full leather upholstery and gloss-finished carbon fibre interior trim.

Three new exterior colours will also be added to the Alpine range. We’ve already seen white and blue, so place your bets which will join the palate.
