8With the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show on the horizon, Honda has revealed the range of models it will be displaying at the biennial event.
Among the attractions at the motoring exhibition will be concept models of cars, motorcycles and power products, with a number of manufacturers and companies ready to present their latest innovative offerings.
For Honda, this will see them showcasing, among other developments, the new S660 Concept – an open-top, mini-vehicle with a sporty edge.
The diminutive car is a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive motor, which takes some cues from the 1960s’ S600 and the 2011 EV-Ster concept.
It features a 660 cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a rating of 64hp, unlike the EV-Ster’s electric powertrain.
While it’s not expected to make any world record-breaking attempts for speed, the concept model certainly makes up for it in style.
The little pocket rocket is a two-seat coupe car, with a mean front face and clean cut, streamlined design. It certainly looks like it would be great fun to drive, but we won’t know until Honda reveals the full performance figures.
Elsewhere, Honda will be displaying the NSX Concept II, the manufacturer’s larger super sports car model.
The ultra-streamlined vehicle looks like it could really make an impression on both the road and the track, and revellers at the show are likely to flock to see the attractive and innovative model.
On the inside, red leather continues the bold exterior design, with a central-fixed screen at the peak of a central console.
Honda will also show a blast from the past, with its first F1 machine raced in the 1964 Formula One World Championship primed to make an appearance.
In addition to the cars that are set to be showcased in Tokyo, Honda is also ready to reveal a range of motorbikes and scooters.
One of these is the new DUNK, Honda’s 50cc scooter which will be sent out to the Japanese market. The production model will feature exciting new technology, in the form of a liquid-cooled engine.
It doesn’t reinvent the scootering world aesthetically, but the DUNK 50cc looks like it will be a competitor in the market, with an attractive central-mounted headlight on neatly angled body.
The scooter comes with adequate space under the seat and features a tidy central display.
A number of Honda’s CB motorcycles will be also be wheeled out for the expectant viewers, with the CB1300 Super BOL D’OR, CB400 Super BOL D’OR, CB400 Super Four and CBR250R all primed for an appearance.
Honda fans will also be in for a treat, with racing and rally motorcycle models from past and present taking pride of place. Looking back in time, revellers will be able to gaze upon the RC142 – a replica of the first Honda model to compete in the Isle of Man TT race in 1959.
More modern incarnations of racing motorcycles include the RC213V – that was raced in the 2013 Road Racing World Championship MotoGP Class – and the CRF450 RALLY – which is set to be raced in 2014 Dakar Rally in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
