The annual Qatar Motor Show is definitely one for the lovers of cars with large price tags and this year’s organisers revealed what could be the country’s first supercar.
The Elibreia is made of carbon fibre and in the spirit of the motor show is a very eye-catching gold.
Although just a concept at this stage, it could signal the start of a new direction for the Qatar automotive industry.
University of Texas A&M Qatar graduate Abdulwahab Ziaullah is behind the unique design which makes use of a General Motors Company V-6 engine that is capable of delivering 535 bhp.
The car designer focused on significantly reducing the total weight of the car using the latest high-tech materials – ensuring the car is around 800lbs less than the average vehicle.
Ziaullah is reported to already be working on another supercar called the Equvallas that will feature rear-wheel drive and a carbon fibre body – it remains to be seen whether the design will be as ‘full-on’ as the Elibreia.
First held in 2011, the Qatar Motor Show is growing in popularity and more than 25,000 car fans visited this year’s event.
