One early celebratory arrival is the reveal of the new LaFerrari Aperta at the Paris Motor Show.The original LaFerrari (‘the Ferrari’) was a limited hybrid sportscar run of 499 units which was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 and while we’ve known that an open top version was somewhere in Ferrari’s future plans, it’s only now that the new LaFerrari Aperta has actually been unveiled. Aperta literally translates from Italian to English as ‘open’.It was announced earlier in the year that a limited run of just 200 units of the LaFerrari Aperta would be produced and the news proved to be so popular that every single one has already been sold to existing Ferrari customers. A further 9 units will be kept by Ferrari for showing at events next year as part of those much anticipated 70th anniversary celebrations.The Aperta is a stunning looking 2-seater that retains much of the original car’s style and lines. Ferrari says that the open top version will be as rigid as the hard top, so presumably there is some serious additional structural metal in the chassis somewhere to maintain torsional stiffness. The good news is that this means the handling is likely to be very similar to the coupe.In fact, the numbers are pretty much just the same as the LaFerrari, with the same 950bhp, V12 6.3-litre engine as the hardtop giving a 0-62mph in less than 3 seconds. Thanks to some aerodynamic updates giving the same drag coefficient, the Aperta also has the same top speed as the coupe – in excess of 220mph.Interestingly, those perfect lines of the LaFerrari are unique in having not been designed with any input from Pininfarina, the famous Italian coachbuilder, although Ferrari has stressed that the long relationship with the Italian design house is far from over."},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
