The Praga Bohema hypercar looks almost good enough to eat; though I’m not sure if it’s the incredible pearlescent metallic orange paint mixed with black, the smooth edgy race lines or the fact that it reminds me of my boyhood dream Scalextric cars I’d hope for at Christmas.

The (road-legal) Praga concept from a couple of years ago was also impressive, so Praga certainly has its credentials in place for bringing the car forward to production from this year.

Praga Bohema Nissan GT-R 3.8-litre V6 bi-turbo engine

The road-ready Praga Bohema will be a car powered with a 3.8-litre V6 bi-turbo engine taken from the equally impressive Nissan GT-R, and with the Bohema hitting the scales at a much lighter weight, the outcome will certainly be interesting as the rear takes on 700bhp via a manual 6-speed transmission.

Yes, that weight: the Bohema sits at around 1,000kg – that’s maybe around 700kg lighter than a GT-R.

The curvy smooth body is fashioned out of carbon-fire, which aids the light weight of course. It also has a downforce of 900kg, which might come as some sort of relief.

Praga Heritage

Praga is actually a very old automotive manufacturing brand, currently a global player in a number of on- and off-track racing disciplines, it’s certainly not a new player in the field, although this is the first time Praga has produced a hypercar.

Tomas Kasparek, Praga’s owner, says that this is a milestone for the 117-year-old brand, with the company carefully monitoring each build of the Bohema very closely to make sure that everything goes to plan and even exceeds what customers might expect from this new hypercar.

Grosjean’s Challenge

According to the story, renowned racer and Praga ambassador Romain Grosjean, who has an impressive history in Formula 1 and currently competes in IndyCar, issued a daring challenge to Praga. He urged them to create a truly exceptional road and track car—one that offers an unparalleled driving experience for two passengers without compromise.

Grosjean played an active role in the development of the Praga Bohema, bringing his expertise and passion to the project.

Recently, he tested the hypercar on the demanding six-kilometre Slovakia Ring circuit, where he emphasized the Bohema’s remarkable ability to transition effortlessly from road to track, delivering a driver experience like no other..

Kasparek also says that the company is naturally very proud to be fulfilling production within such a short time since the concept was made public.

Track Testing The Praga Bohema Hypercar

Testing has occurred at such established venues as Spa-Francorchamps, the Red Bull Ring and Nürburgring among others.

Test drivers have equally been as established, with Ben Collins (a former ‘Stig’ from Top Gear) and IndyCar and F1 racer, Romain Grosjean.

Well, if you are wondering what the price might be for such a beast, then that might be the first bit of disappointment; owners will be required to cough up at least £1.16 million.
