Aston Martin has teased what it is calling the world’s most extreme hypercar.

Two computer-generated images of the Valkyrie AMR Pro have been published before the standard Valkyrie has even been built and they promise something even more off-the-hook.

With increased power and torque as well as even more weight reductions, the Valkyrie AMR Pro will benefit from significantly increased downforce helped by an all-new aerodynamic package.

The most obvious changes have been made to the car’s exterior. All the aerodynamic surfaces have been revised in the pursuit of significantly increased downforce, including the addition of much larger front and rear wing elements, together with revised active aerodynamic control strategies tailored for the demands of track driving.

We can’t tell you exactly how much power it will have – Aston won’t say – but considering the standard Valkyrie boasts around 900bhp and a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, the prospect of an even more powerful version is mouthwatering. Unlike the regular Valkyrie though, the AMR Pro version will be a track-only affair.

Providing the grunt will be a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre Cosworth-built V12 engine, which will be able to dish out more power thanks to significant engine recalibration and the modification of the road car’s emission control systems.

The AMR Pro will feature smaller wheels than the road car (18in front and rear) enabling it to run on Michelin racing tyres, which are made to the same specification as those used by LMP1 cars in the World Endurance Championship.

The normal Valkyrie was a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull, originally revealed as the AM-RB 001 mid-2016. It’ll go into production at some point in 2018 with Aston’s Gaydon plant in Warwickshire handing assembly.

Only 25 Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pros will be built with handovers in 2020, but forget about getting hold of one yourself because all 25 have already been sold.
