This year marks the 70th anniversary of Ferrari and to celebrate this rather impressive event, we are going to look at one car for each of the seven decades!
The 1940’s – 125 S
The Ferrari 125 S was the first ever car to wear the Ferrari badge and was debuted back in 1947. It was powered by a 1.5-litre engine which produced 118 bhp and could hit 130 mph. For the 1940’s, this was pretty incredible! The 125 S went on to win six out of the fourteen races that it competed in during 1947.
The 1950’s – 250
In 1953, the Ferrari 250 series was introduced and was actually Ferrari’s most successful early line! There were several variants in the 250 series, including the 250 S, 250 MM, 250 GTO and more. The first 250 was the 250 S which produced 227 bhp and went on to win the Mille Miglia!
The 1960’s – 275 NART Spider
The 275 NART Spider was exclusive to one American dealer and only 10 of these beauties were ever made. This makes the NART Spider, one of the most valuable Ferrari’s with one being sold for $27.5 million in 2013!
The 1970’s – Dino 246 GT
The Dino 246 was actually the first Ferrari to be produced in high numbers and this worked out for the company as it became very popular in the consumer market. It was powered by a 2.4-litre V6 engine and the body was made out of steel instead of aluminum unlike it’s predecessor, the Dino 206.

The 1980’s – Testarossa
The Testarossa is considered the most iconic Ferrari of the 80’s and went into production in 1984. It was favoured by many celebrities from Elton John to Mike Tyson and was featured heavily in magazines and video games alike. The original model of the Ferrari Testarossa came packed with a 4.9-litre engine which produced 390bhp and could hit 60mph in 5.3 seconds!
The 1990’s – F50
In a similar fashion to the F40 of the 80s, the F50 was created in 1995 to commemorate Ferrari’s 50-year anniversary (although this was a little bit early!). Only 349 F50’s were ever made and were produced in Maranello in Italy. The F50’s 0-60mph time was particularly impressive at the time with 3.8 seconds!
The 2000’s – The Enzo
We couldn’t look back at the cars of Ferrari without mentioning the Enzo! The Enzo was built in 2002 using Ferrari’s Formula One technology which included a carbon-fibre body and ceramic disc brakes. It’s very clear to see that the front of the Enzo is also heavily influenced by F1!
399 Enzo Ferrari’s were made originally and in 2004, the 400th Enzo was built and donated to the Vatican for charity which later sold at auction for over $1 Million.
The 2010’s – LaFerrari
The LaFerrari is last but by no means the least on the list. LaFerrari literally meaning ‘The Ferrari’ is considered to be the definitive Ferrari and successor to the Enzo. It produces an astonishing 950bhp from its 6.3-litre V12 engine. Don’t expect to get more than 5mpg out of this monster, but considering that all 499 are sold out, you might have to wait for an auction and a lottery win!
Conclusion
