Just one glance at the new Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003 will be all you need to know that this is a road going car that promises a lot in terms of steering and clever engineering.

Glickenhaus SCG003 at Geneva 2015

It is a custom built supercar with a unique design and it is currently being shown off to visitors at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. This car was built completely from scratch, from its carbon fibre chassis and pushrod suspension up to its paneling that is sculpted for improved aerodynamics.

There are two versions of this car; the Competizione version for racing purposes or the road-going Stradale.

In the Competizione version is a 3.5 litre V6 twin-turbo engine that was derived from a Honda Performance Development block but customers can swap it if they choose. Glickenhaus says that the rear frame can be changed easily so that different engines can be used on the same platform. The Stradale also has a V6 engine but it is one that Glickenhaus is developing specifically.

Racing cars seem to have been a long interest for James Glickenhaus, who was behind the SCG003. He has previously personally commissioned Ferrari to build him an Enzo-based P4/5 as well as an F430-based P4/5 Competizione.

SCG003

There are a few references to famous supercars and motorsport brands throughout the SCG003. For example, the front has hints of the Ferrari Enzo and the side profile features an LMP-style centre fin. On the back, there is a bit of Ford GT-esque styling too.

The car’s styling was arranged by Granstudio, while Podium Engineering took care of the aerowork. Dunlop tyres are fitted on the Competizione racing version and it is equipped with Bosch electronics.

On the inside, there isn’t much more than a seat, a racing wheel and a dashboard full of switches. Although this seems fairly simplistic, a lot of time and money has been put into this project and one of the end results is that the interior looks as though it was done well.

SCG003

Little has been revealed about the SCG003’s performance specifications but it is rumoured to have around 600 hp and a kerb weight of less than 2,645 pounds. Therefore, this is going to be a fast car.

Most car makers would choose to test their car in controlled environments on the Nurburgring so that they could chase competitors’ lap times. However, the SCG003C will be taking to this legendary track in May as part of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race. What’s more, the SCG003S will have its roadworthiness tested by being driven around the streets of New York.

Glickenhaus says that the Competizione and Stradale versions are so similar that the former can be easily converted by its owner for road use.

The Stradale is set to be ready to be delivered by the end of 2015 and is available to order now, however, a base recommended retail price has not been released for this car.
