The first public unveiling of the new Jaguar F-Type is set to take place at this year's Paris Motor Show on September 27th.
With prices starting from £55,000, the new F-Type is being touted as the natural successor to the legendary E-Type and will offer blistering performance, as well as stunning looks for lucky buyers in the coming years.
Set to go on sale from next spring in its soft top incarnation, there are also plans for the launch of a hard-topped version of the F-Type for 2014.
Mike Cross, chief engineer for vehicle integrity at Jaguar, commented: "Fundamentally, a great sports car is one you'll look forward to driving because it's fun and the F-Type definitely delivers on that score.
"We've worked hard to make sure that responses to steering, throttle and brakes are absolutely immediate, a task made far easier by the rigid aluminium structure at the car's base. It's precise and exciting, a car that you'll want to drive for the sake of driving alone – and it sounds fantastic!"
The figures for the F-Type are extremely impressive, with the car's supercharged five-litre V8 engine delivering 495 bhp and propelling the vehicle from zero to 62 mph in under five seconds, while topping out an impressive 190 mph.
Adrian Hallmark, global brand director for Jaguar Cars, claimed the unveiling of the F-Type in Paris will be a truly remarkable and historic day for the company and for the world of motoring in general.
He argued that the launch of the new vehicle will mark the return of one of the most famous sports car brands to the sports coupe sector, a market which itself originally helped to create with the iconic E-Type.
Set to be built in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, the F-Type aims to place itself in direct competition with the Porsche 911 as the king of the sports coupes.
