Luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of its new A-Class model will be the highlight of its exhibition at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show.
Starting on March 8th and running until the 18th, the event will see the unveiling of the new A-Class featuring an array of new technologies and improved styling.
Improvements announced by the company for its new flagship model include the introduction of a new radar-based collision prevention assist system, as well as hill-start assist, adaptive high-beam lighting, blind spot and lane-keeping assist programs, and speed limit sign recognition.
Available in petrol and diesel versions from 109 to 211 bhp, the new A-Class is also highly economical and environmentally-friendly, delivering emissions of just 99 g/km of CO2.
Dr Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the board of management of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, added the new A-Class is a statement of clear intent from the manufacturer, with the vehicle showcasing the dynamism and creativity of its engineers.
"Applying the new dynamic style of Mercedes-Benz to the compact class was a challenge that we thoroughly enjoyed," Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz, commented.
"The almost sculptural lines of the A-Class are very typical for Mercedes. The feature lines, particularly along the sides of the car, give the A-Class structure and tautness."
Meanwhile, the 75th anniversary of the first performance of the famous Silver Arrows Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union Grand Prix team is being celebrated at the upcoming Goodwood Revival 2012, with a one-off show by the famous troupe.
Visitors will be treated to an exhibition of extreme driving skills by some of the best professional drivers in the world, with a host of classic designs being involved, including Mercedes-Benz W25, W125, W154 and W165 models.
