McLaren GT has completed another successful year of racing, with 2012 bringing a number of firsts for the popular team.
It was the debut season for the McLaren 12C GT3 and it was one to remember, with the vehicle achieving 19 first places finishes and a further 19 podiums in a packed season.
The results came across 14 disciplines, with 23 12C GT3's running in all during the last 12 months.
Andrew Kirkaldy, managing director of McLaren GT explained: "This season has been full of new challenges for McLaren GT and the teams running the 12C GT3 which, it is important to remember, is a brand new car to GT racing.
"To have scored 19 victories in the competitive debut season is true testament to the professionalism and dedication of the teams, as well as the durability, reliability and speed of the 12C GT3."
A further batch of 12C GT3 models is to be unveiled for the coming year, with the performance vehicle manufacturer announcing a number of important upgrades that should help the team go from strength in the coming months.
Each has been designed to enhance drivability, reliability and efficiency while a greater focus on aerodynamics for the 2013 model will further help build on the stunning progress that has already been made by the company following the 12C GT3s launch.
Indeed, the marque will not be resting on its laurels in 2013, with the manufacturer announcing earlier this year the production of its new McLaren P1 – the successor to the hugely powerful and popular McLaren F1.
McLaren Automotive's executive chairman Ron Dennis stated back in September that the P1 will take in all the lessons the manufacturer has learnt over the last 20 years since the launch of the F1, with less of a focus on incredible top speed – although this is still likely to be a party piece of the new design – and focusing more closely on overall performance and on-track handling.
