The upcoming Tokyo Motor Show will soon see the unveiling of two new Lexus models (or a pair of Lexi as Alan Partridge might say).

Lexus LF NX and RC Coupe Feature

While the brand has perhaps been associated with cardigan wearing, cringingly boring, local radio DJs inthe past, the latest examples should help to put the dull Lexus stereotype to bed once and for all.

The biennial event will showcase the LF-NX luxury compact crossover concept and the new RC coupe to expectant visitors – and both have been given a ferocious facelift.

Both mean models have been made to look fierce through the new grille design, which snarls and growls as it drives towards you.

The angled hourglass shape gives the Lexus an aggressive attitude that it has never really had before.

However, the angriest of the two comes in the form of the LF-NX, which also has the furious glare to match its exposed teeth.

Two slit headlights give the sense of piercing eyes, while the angled bonnet conveys a furrowed brow to add to the general unsettling stare.

It doesn’t sound like I’m painting a particularly pretty picture, but as the images demonstrate, it’s actually incredibly cool.

First revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, the new LF-NX comes with a lower centre of gravity and a new front spoiler to add to the sporty performance.

With SUV qualities and a robust nature, the car is sure to draw crowds in Tokyo – if anyone dares to go near it.

The comparatively soft and cuddly sibling the Lexus RC is also ready to take a prime spot at the upcoming event.

Starting life as a concept, the RC is now ready to take to the roads. The spindle grille snarl is accentuated by sharp lines and streamlined body, making it a sporty car with attitude.

Under the bonnet you could choose a high-performance V6 petrol engine or a hybrid powertrain, with the former coming with a 3.5-litre V6 and the latter sporting a 2.5-litre unit.

The coupe is intended to provide “emotional appeal” and to bring a whole new range of customers to the Lexus brand.

Unveiled in deep red colouring, the model also comes with triangular headlights that help to replicate the brand’s ‘L’ motif, along with a three LED light configuration that delivers the same design.

On the inside, the four-seat RC continues the sporty design, with contrasting materials, colours and lighting.

There is also a clear distinction in the driver’s cockpit between operation and display zones, with the upper area including the instrument panel and a seven-inch navigation screen. Below features a layered console and Remote Touch Interface control, which holds the controls to various in-built functions.

Honestly, the new Lexi look a lot more exciting and entertaining than previous releases from the brand. Hopefully, it will help to banish the “AH-HA” image it has been associated with in recent years and will captivate all the visitors at the Tokyo show.
