After a long-running marketing campaign shrouded in mystery, Jaguar has finally revealed images and specifications of its much anticipated new F-TYPE Coupe.
The car has been running under the #FromTheShadows marketing initiative, with only teased images of the vehicle displayed until its official release date yesterday (October 20th).
For those with an unquenchable desire to see more of the vehicle, unique codes were available on promotional material that could be used to unveil more of the model’s design.
However, the car has finally emerged from the shadows and into the light, under what Jaguar has described as ‘the world’s most dynamic car reveal ever’.
So has it lived up to the hype?
If you are a fan of Jaguar anyway, I feel that answer is obvious. But just to make it clear, the car was DEFINITELY worth the wait!
Under the manufacturer’s own admission, the car is the “most dynamically capable, performance-focused, production Jaguar ever”.
The premium ‘R’ model comes with a 550PS/680 Nm 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine, helping it to achieve 0-60mph in just 4.0-seconds. If you don’t want to stop there, you can continue with your foot planted to the floor until the car reaches its electronically limited top speed of 186mph.
Furthermore, the car comes with second-generation Electronic Active Differential working alongside a new Torque Vectoring by braking system. These features help to improve the car’s agility and further exploit the excellent handling.
In terms of design, the car exudes classic Jaguar aesthetics, not least through the front grille and svelte figure.
The smooth aesthetic is accentuated by the design procedure, which sees the body created from a single-piece of aluminium pressing. According to Jaguar, the process creates the most extreme cold-formed aluminium body side in the automotive industry.
Without a load of cosmetic joints and panels, the car is a fluid, elegant machine that will certainly make a stir at the ambassadors ball – or wherever else you want to show it off.
Phil Popham, group marketing director for Jaguar Land Rover, said: “The F-TYPE Coupé provides its driver with a unique sports car experience. It combines seductive design with cutting-edge technology and performance which is truly breathtaking. Engaging, precise, intuitive and alive – it is the definitive sports Coupé.”
Mr Popham’s assessment isn’t far wrong. In silver, the car looks like a speeding bullet even when it’s stood still and the glass panoramic roof will give drivers a sensation like they are truly connected to the outside world. If you want this experience for real, you could always opt for the convertible version!
For those who can’t quite stretch to the premium model, the F-TYPE S Coupe and the F-TYPE Coupe are also up for grabs, with both offering a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine. The former can achieve 380PS/460Nm and 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds, while the latter is a step down to 340PS/450Nm and 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds.
However, whichever model you chose, I’m almost certain there won’t be any complaints!
