The latest generation of the model also picked up an additional plaudit in the form of Best City Car accolade.

However, the praise for Hyundai didn’t stop at just the i10, as the Santa Fe also picked up a gong in the Best Large SUV category, fending off competition from other leading brands in its class.

Back to the compact city car, the i10 was praised by judges for its quality, refinement, style and value, with the car set to hit UK forecourts and showrooms from January 30th.

Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief for Auto Express and CarBuyer, said that despite the car lacking in size, it more than makes up for it when it comes to talent.

“It offers so much for such a small price with real big car attributes ─ it’s well built, spacious and with loads of luxury kit on board. It makes you wonder why you ever need to pay more for a new car,” he said.

It’s not the first time a Hyundai has picked up such an award from the CarBuyer team, with the i30 picking up the title in the 2012 list.

Tony Whitehorn, president and chief executive of Hyundai Motor UK, said the company is “tremendously proud” of the i10’s achievements, also adding that it is a “true testament” to the progress the company has made in recent years.

The i10 has also recently claimed an award from the writers at Top Gear magazine, with the car being named as Bargain of the Year by the popular publication.

According to the manufacturer, the latest edition of the i10 delivers high levels of comfort and safety to customers, with features that many will find in cars of a higher value or specification.

This is achieved through the installation of technology such as automatic climate control and a heated leather steering wheel. Cruise control can also be found in the car, while a speed limiter helps drivers to stay safe on the roads.
