For what felt like the first time this summer, the sun put his hat on and graced everyone at the Santa Pod Raceway with his presence.

Also putting on his hat (his crash helmet) was Martin Hill, the driving power and creator of the FireForce 3 dragster.

Existing as the fastest jet powered dragster in world, the FireForce 3 erupted on the track, reaching 265 MPH and finishing the Santa Pod quarter mile in a blistering 6.7 seconds. (Although, in 2005, a top recorded time of 5.7 seconds, crossing the line at a staggering 336 MPH was achieved).

Thundering down the track, the noise that shadowed the FireForce 3 was astonishing. Vibrations from the ground lead to an overwhelming sense of the full force of the show car and appreciation of the whole concept.

From the viewing stands, a wave of heat pulsated through the mass as the engine roared and the dragster flew past. If you blinked, you would have genuinely missed it!

14 foot parachutes burst out from the drag car and as the machine began to slow, echoed gasps, from the watching audience, filled the air.

After standing there in awe of what had just occurred, it takes a few moments for your brain to catch up to the speed of the car. Literally unbelievable.
