Luxury performance vehicle manufacturer Ferrari has released the first teaser images of its new successor to the iconic Ferrari Enzo, which will be the company’s first hybrid model.
A number of prospective names are being touted for the new vehicle at present – including the F70, new Enzo and F150 – but what is clear is that the latest hyper car is to build on the company’s ethos of astonishing aesthetics and performance, while also building in an element of sustainability.
The first images of the new Ferrari were released this week, with the pictures highlighting a number of significant design features that are being incorporated into the new model, such as its low roof line, bubble cockpit and hunched rear.
Meanwhile, the innovative drive train of the new Ferrari will couple a rumoured 7.3-litre V12 petrol engine with a Formula One-style KERS system to deliver astonishing performance, as well as a 40 per cent reduction in fuel consumption.
“We are trying to anticipate the future with this car,” Ferrari technical director Roberto Fedeli told the Official Ferrari Magazine. “We are trying hard to achieve the technical limit of every single component we are using, and also the packaging of the car as a whole.
“We are building a car close to the limits of technology, but we will only have succeeded if you can feel the result. The real objective of a special Ferrari is feeling, feeling, feeling.”
It now remains to be seen exactly what the new Ferrari will be like, but if this first glimpse is anything to go by it will certainly be a car that stands out from the crowd.
The Enzo was originally launched in 2002, with designers endeavouring to create a hypercar fit for the new millennium.
This was a feat they certainly achieved, with the vehicle’s performance second-to-none as it develops 651 bhp – accelerating from zero to 62 mph in 3.14 seconds, with a recorded top speed of 221 mph.
