Salon Prive is described as the UK’s answer to Pebble Beach in the US and Italy’s Villa d’Este, and is taking place right now in Surrey for fans of performance, sports and prestige cars to head along to.
Running from September 5th to 7th, the sports car showcase is currently being held at Syon House and incorporates the debut of numerous top-of-the-line vehicles with a concourse d’elegance and showcase for vintage super cars and bikes.
Dating back to 1415, the grounds of Syon House are a fitting venue for this showpiece event, with the beautiful surroundings echoing the outstanding beauty of the myriad vehicles on display.
Now in its seventh year, one of the most exciting aspects of the Salon Prive is the array of top-of-the-line sports and performance vehicles being unveiled at the event, with 2012 witnessing the launch of the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster.
Aston Martin chief executive officer Dr Ulrich Bez said of the vehicle: “I believe no other car in this class offers the combination of the V12 Vantage Roadster’s prestige, six-speed manual gearbox and the unique enjoyment that driving a high performance convertible can deliver.”
Delivering blistering performance as a result of the model’s 6.0-litre V12 powerhouse, the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and generates torque totalling 570 Nm at 5,750 rpm.
Meanwhile, the latest offering from Overfinch is to be showcased to the public at this year’s show – the specially-created Overfinch Range Rover Sport-inspired Limited Edition GTS-X.
With a price tag of £147,000 it is certainly an option for individuals with deep pockets, while its similarly impressive power of 575 bhp makes it one of the most hotly anticipated unveilings of the show.
Capable of accelerating from zero to 62 mph in just under five seconds, the new Overfinch is no slouch due to its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, while its massive 22-inch rims ensure drivers of the vehicle get to wherever they are going in style.
Other attractions of the Salon Prive include the Supercar Lawn, offering a glimpse of some of the rarest and most expensive, powerful and unique cars from around the world, with exhibitors including such famous manufacturers as AMG, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Ferrari, Fisker, BMW, Bentley, Aston Martin and many more.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy some retail therapy with an array of big-name sponsors for the Salon Prive, including Audemars Piguet timepieces, Boodles jewellery, Chubb Insurance and Pommery champagne.
Highlights of the event also include the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Mercedes-Benz Gullwing, as well as 25th birthday festivities for the Ferrari F40 and 60-year celebrations for the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Disco Volante.
Noted sports car enthusiast and lead singer of Jamiroquai Jay Kay commented: “If you are looking for a splendid day out in London, surrounded by beautiful people, and in my opinion, even more beautiful cars – then Salon Prive is the place for you.”
Olympian DaleyThompson added: “Super cars, beautiful classic cars, some of my favourite brands and a real best of British flavour – all here at Salon Prive. I’d encourage everyone to come along to Syon Park and experience it for themselves.”
