James Bond will get behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DB5 in his latest movie outing, the producers have confirmed.

Skyfall, the 23rd film in the series, will mark the sixth appearance of the iconic DB5 in a movie featuring the world's most famous super spy.

"We've used various cars from time to time but we always do come back to Aston Martin," explained producer Michael G Wilson.

Reports have speculated that Skyfall could see the DB5 involved in its first major chase sequence since the vehicle made its debut in 1964's Goldfinger.

Director Sam Mendes has described the car as "part of my boyhood" and suggested it was deliberately chosen in an attempt to conjure memories of a classic Bond era.

"I felt it was a thematic thing. It's definitely about the old and the new," he said.

Due to hit cinemas in late October, Skyfall will star Daniel Craig in his third outing as 007 and Spanish actor Javier Bardem as villain Raoul Silva.
