A search still trending at the moment is: ‘is there a new Porsche Taycan coming?’ proving that there is certainly some anticipation for the new arrival.
In fact, the car has sold more than 150,000 units across the globe, which also makes it Porsche’s number one seller in the UK.
And yes, in answer to the trending question, there is a new Porsche Taycan coming.
Porsche Taycan 0-62mph In 2.4 Seconds
Not only is the Porsche Taycan a popular model to make such anticipation solid, but if the rumours were to be true, then the new Taycan would prove to be an interesting upgrade.
New Twin-Electric Motor
As it turns out, the new model will enable drivers to accelerate from 0-62mph in a blistering 2.4 seconds, thanks to a new 938bhp turbo engine. No wonder people are getting excited.
The twin-electric motor Taycan arrived only a few years ago and immediately sold well, in part thanks to the prestige of the manufacturer, and also some great design.
The initial swoop for the car resulted in 20,000 models being shipped, making up 7.4 per cent of Porsche’s total volume.
It’s a strange situation, when we know that the new model will have rather few variations on the existing model, yet this is deemed to be a very good thing – that’s how much enthusiasts love the Taycan and what it already stands for.
Porsche Taycan 2024 Upgrades
Yet what we will get is some well thought out upgrades. The new Turbo S will get the 938bhp engine, and despite all that power, the range will (dependant on battery configurations) be up to 420 miles.
I’m beginning to feel some empathetic concern for Porsche’s rivals – it seems like the German manufacturer isn’t giving up the mantle just yet!
Three Porsche Taycan
What we will get is a Taycan in three body styles: a saloon, a Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo, with each arriving sometime soon.
It will, as mentioned, be capable of a very impressive range for a car so powerful – we normally see some sort of compromise in power versus range, but thanks to a new larger battery, with an increased capacity to 105kWh from 94kWh, the new version has the core to supply its needs.
As standard, the new model will get a 83.6kWh battery, with a performance pack featuring 97kWh capacity.
Couple that with a new, more efficient motor and it begins to look like Porsche’s designers have left no stone unturned to get the best out of the new upgrades.
The battery will also now have the ability to fast-charge from 8 to 80 per cent in just 17 minutes. Everything about this new Porsche Taycan is quick, except for its range.
Looking from the outside, there will be some very subtle changes to the lights and bumpers, but to be honest, it looks great as it is – it’s the power underneath that’s the impressive thing.
Porsche has said that evolutions in technology has never stopped it ever wanting to continually upgrade the iconic 911, which maybe gives a hint at the flexibility of developments to come for the future of the Taycan.
