Goodwood Festival of Speed is coming up very quickly but along with it there will be a special surprise in the form of the world’s first ‘megacar’.
The Koenigsegg Agera One:1 will be making its appearance on the Michelin stand at the festival. It gets its title because it is the first homologated production car to have one megawatt of power along with the brake horsepower to kilogram kerb ratio of 1:1.
Petrol-heads will be eagerly awaiting Goodwood, which will be running from June 26th to 29th and will feature both classic cars and innovations in the motor industry. Not to mention, of course, the hill climb and competitions of speed that will be taking place.
The One:1 Agera edition was released to mark the 20th anniversary of Koenigsegg. It will take part in the Michelin Supercar Run, making it the only time ever that two of these cars have appeared together so far.
Contributing to the car’s incredible performance is its jet-like 2G cornering capabilities and its 610 kilogram downforce at 260km/h utilising advanced active under and over aerodynamic. Adding to its speed is its 20 per cent lighter carbon chassis, which is also predictive active and controlled through GPS and 3G.
The car has body and fully active aero with independent left and right flight front flaps. It also has a hydraulic dual plane rear wing.
The car dons a set of Michelin’s bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. These tyres are homologated for the road, but are designed for top circuit performance and are inspired by patented endurance competition technologies.
With simulation tests having shown that this car can reach speeds of more than 440km/h, it is thought that it will be the fastest homologated production car in the world. It will become one in a specific group of cars, which also includes its sibling the Koenigsegg Agera R, to have broken world records in terms of speed and performance using michelin tyres.
