Watch: World-Famous Drag Queens “Jag Race” For Charity

Watch Drag queens meet drag racing in this unusual and amusing mini-series

Fed up of hearing about RuPaul’s Drag Race? Well don’t worry, we’ve got something far better! Jag Race!

Now here’s a story you don’t hear every day. Jaguar has teamed up with four world-famous drag queens to make an online mini-series where they go head to head, drag racing some Jaguar I-PACEs all in the name of raising money for LGBTQ+ charities. That’s right, they’ve managed to turn a simple play-on-words into an entire mini-series but hey, we’ll forgive them as it’s all for a good cause.

This friendly competition has been put together to celebrate the longstanding relationship between Attitude magazine and Jaguar. Jaguar has sponsored Attitude at the Virgin Attitude Awards for the last four years. The awards themselves are designed to celebrate the talent that supports or is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and names such as Sam Smith, Taron Egerton and Christine and the Queens were on the carpet at the event just gone.

The four drag queens in Jag Race are Cortney Act, Peppermint, The Vivienne and Miss Tickle. The hostess of the show is Channel 4’s Drag SOS star, Cheddar Gorgeous. They do love their puns, don’t they…

In heat 1 of 3, Courtney Act and The Vivienne go head to head racing a blue and red I-PACE each against each other in a standard ¼ mile race.

Courtney Act is one of Australia’s most famous queens and has been active in the drag scene for around twenty years! She’s also competed in the 6th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and was the winner of 2018’s Celebrity Big Brother UK! The name itself is a play on “caught in the act”, in case you didn’t get it already.

The Vivienne, on the other hand, is from Wales but has been a Liverpudlian since age 16. She acquired her name by being known for always wearing Vivienne Westwood and also became the UK’s Drag Ambassador in 2016. The Vivienne is currently competing in Drag Race UK.

The hostess with the mostess, Cheddar Gorgeous, stars in Channel 4’s Drag SOS and is the leader of the family in the show. The Family Gorgeous travel the UK in a sparkly mini bus giving drag makeovers and spreading love and glitter around the country, giving over-the-top makeovers to both men and women who want it.

In heat 2, we’re introduced to the other two queens that are participating, Peppermint and Miss Tickle. Peppermint was the first openly trans woman to enter RuPaul’s drag race which caused controversy and had fans debating whether trans women should be allowed to compete in a drag competition. The American queen ended up placing 2nd in the competition as a runner up to Sasha Velour.

Miss Tickle, first name: Tess, is well known in the UK as a comedic impersonator and drag queen. Unofficially named as ‘the North East’s Premier Showgirl’, Miss Tickle’s UK dominance is only growing as she continues to perform at Gay Pride events and drag shows across the country.

It all comes to a conclusion in heat 3 as the two previous victors battle it out for the £10,000 prize. For 10 minutes of your time, this mini-series makes for a good laugh and is worth a watch, especially if you’re into the drag queen scene.
