Due to be launched at the Paris Motor Show next month the new Jaguar is a true 21st century car in design, technology and performance. On September 20th 2012 Jaguar announced that the new Jaguar soft top roadster will be on sale from next spring from £55,000. What will be known as the F-Type, will be seen as the successor to the classic E-Type of the sixties. With Jaguar unveiling ‘it’s sexiest car to date’ the question has arose, what is the sexiest classic car of all time? Talking about classic cars started an office debate about which classic car was the all time sexiest. We have put together a list of some of our opinions.
Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gull Wing (1954) – As the fastest production car of its day, the Mercedes US importer ‘Mad’ Max Hoffman knew full well that this car would make Hollywoods elite climb over one another to get themselves spotted in this classic car.
Aston Martin DB5 (1963) – The Aston Martin DB5 is famous for being the first and most recognised as James Bonds car, first appearing in Goldfinger in 1964.
Jaguar XKSS (1957) – As the road version of the Jaguar D-Type, after Jaguar withdrew the D-Type from racing the company had a few spare chassis and decided to create the Jaguar XKSS.
Ford GT40 (1966) – Winning the Le Mans in four consecutive years proves that the Ford GT40 is something to be admired. It was originally built to rival Ferrari, who had continuously proved to overshadow Ford in the race for most
Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic (1954) – Is one of a rare batch of French Sports cars designed in 1937 by Bugatti Company. These days an estimated auction value is $35 million therefore although voted one of our sexiest it is also one of the rarest.
Lamborghini Miura (1967) – Recognised as the first ‘super car’ the Lamborghini Miura, at launch, was the fastest production road car of its time. As Lamborghinis flagship car it remained in production for 7 years, which for such an exclusive car was almost unheard of.
Jaguar E-Type (1961) – The British sports car manufactured by Jaguar in the early 1960’s is not only one of the sexiest looking cars but the way it drives is unlike any car of its time.
Austin Healey 100s (1953) – Named the 100 for its rare capability for reaching 100 mph the Austin Healey 100 is one of the most beautiful cars of its time.
Ferrari 250 GT California Spider (1957) – As one of Ferrari’s most successful early lines of vehicle the Ferrari 250 has several different models, the GT California Spider needs no explanation as to why it is in our top sexiest.
Porsche 550 Spyder (1953) – The model Porsche 550 Spyder was introduced at the 1953 Paris Auto Show. Perhaps most famed as the car that James Dean fatally crashed in 1955, the car seems tainted and often gets over looked.
