It sits at the rear of the vehicle and is adapted from the new Ducati 1199 Superleggera, which is the world’s most powerful two-cylinder motorcycle. This engine can generate 147 kW or 200 PS. Despite this low power, the XL Sport can reach up to 270 km\/h, which is a record for efficiency. The high-tech engine comes with titanium connecting rods, magnesium alloys and is fitted with legendary desmodromic valves. The car is based on the XL1, which is the most efficient car of all time. Only 250 units are to be built of the XL1 and, similarly, there are only set to be 500 units of the limited edition Superleggera. This is so that the hand fabrication and high-precision industrial manufacturing technologies that go into the vehicles can be fully embraced. Both vehicles are considered to be icons of lightweight carbon and magnesium design technology. As a result, Volkswagen says that by combining the two vehicles to make the XL Sport, it has created a very unique sports car.In a statement Volkswagen said: “With the XL Sport, the group brands Volkswagen and Ducati impressively demonstrate how high-tech developments can lead to synergies between brands and be used by both parties as modules for new concepts.”The XL Sport has been designed to be a very lightweight sports car. It has received a completely new chassis, giving it a layout that is typical for motorsports. While a lot of the car has taken inspiration from the XL1 and the Superleggera, it has also seen a number of major design aspects developed completely from scratch. Its aerodynamics have been shown to be an improvement compared to any other sports car."},{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Latest News","item":"https:\/\/smart-motoring.com\/latest-news\/#breadcrumbitem"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Volkswagen sports car comes to Paris Motor Show","item":"https:\/\/smart-motoring.com\/latest-news\/volkswagen-sports-car-comes-paris-motor-show\/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
