The battery comprises 102 battery cells housed in 17 modules, with Vauxhall stating that it has been designed with efficiency in mind. The Astra Electric has a WLTP range of 258 miles on a single charge and can cover 62 miles with just 12.7kWh of electricity.The battery on both models is tactfully stored in the vehicle\u2019s underbody, allowing for more passenger room or luggage space. The stated luggage space for the Sports Tourer Electric is 516 litres; folding the rear seats increases this to 1,553 litres.Inside and out, these two new models adopt many of the same features as existing Astra models. The design approach is rooted in \u201cinnovative technology\u201d and a \u201cbold and pure design language\u201d, according to Vauxhall Managing Director James Tylor. Vauxhall\u2019s new Griffin logo is fixed to the front, which proudly sits alongside the company\u2019s IntelliLux LED Pixel Light technology. The Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric will also come fitted with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which can be finished in black if desired.The British automaker\u2019s newest electric projects are each kitted out with a digital instrument cluster and centre display measuring 10 inches. The large HUD unit paired with Vauxhall\u2019s voice recognition system ensures drivers can remain focused solely on the road ahead, whilst front collision warning, active lane keeping assist and drowsiness detection all aid in keeping Astra riders well-protected.Vauxhall will begin taking orders for the new Astra Electric from early 2023, with deliveries expected to commence in the summer of the same year.
