Aston Martin makes cars that are anything but reserved, and the brand has just upped its game with what is being hailed as the wildest model in its 104-year history – the Vulcan AMR Pro.

The standard Vulcan was a track-only 820bhp monster and production was limited to just 24 units, all of which were shipped to customers last year.

But now, the AMR performance brand has been let loose on the Vulcan and as you can see from these shots, the results are staggering.

Aesthetically, the Vulcan AMR Pro – which was revealed at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed – boasts extensive aerodynamic enhancements at the front with new louvred panels above the front wheel arches to extract high pressure air and reduce aerodynamic lift.

A pair of dive planes have been tacked to each side of the nose to help pin the front-end to the track and the huge front splitter has turning vanes fitted to its underside to improve steering response.

Around the back, there’s a new rear wing with a 20mm Gurney flap – a simple but effective upstand on the wing’s trailing edge, which is supplemented by slotted wing endplates with additional 15mm Gurneys to maximise the amount of downforce.

In a performance sense, gearing has been shortened to increase downforce and achieve greater responsiveness – improvements that Aston says underline the Vulcan’s status as one of the world’s most extreme and exclusive track cars.

It seems that downforce, more downforce and an extra helping of downforce is the order of the day.

All these aerodynamic changes mean downforce is increased from 3150N in the standard Aston Martin Vulcan to a colossal 4000N at 100MPH.

Aston Martin Racing works driver Darren Turner, one of the lucky few to have driven the Vulcan AMR Pro, said the car is “incredible in every respect – looks, sound and of course, performance”.

He added: “The Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro feels more agile and responsive to steering inputs. When you get the aero working through a fast corner, it really is an unbelievable feeling. I can’t wait to see the customers’ faces when they experience it for themselves.”

Installation of the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro upgrade package is being handled by Q by Aston Martin Advanced Operations and work is already underway on the first upgrades, with the first customer cars expected to be completed in the autumn.
