Porsche is gearing up to unveil the new Cayenne at the Auto Shanghai show in China on April 18th. The car’s cockpit has been significantly upgraded, with a fully digital display and control concept designed to provide a new level of driving experience. The Porsche Driver Experience is highly individualised, intuitive, and fully digitised. With a new focus on the driver, Cayenne’s cockpit features interactive elements, including an optional passenger display, which enhances the interaction between passengers and the vehicle.
The Cayenne’s instrument cluster is a 12.6-inch curved display that offers up to seven different views. The display can be customised to show the rev counter, online navigation, night vision assist, or 3D driving assistance system in the foreground. A classic mode is also available, which transfers the traditional Porsche five-tube instrument cluster design into the digital age. The gear selector is now located to the right of the steering wheel, while the control lever for the driver assistance systems is located on the steering wheel. The driving mode switch for selecting Normal, Offroad, Sport and Sport Plus modes is now standard on the new multifunction sports steering wheel.
Porsche has placed a significant emphasis on connectivity in the Cayenne’s interior. The car features a cooled smartphone storage area with an inductive charging function that allows for an optimised charging power of up to 15 watts. Porsche has also expanded the integration of online services, allowing for new ways of interaction, such as using the Siri voice assistant to operate vehicle functions. The car’s air conditioning control panel has a glass surface in a black panel design, which gives it a high-quality look. The combination of touch recognition and the haptic feedback with mechanical air conditioning switches ensures haptically and aesthetically pleasing functionality.
The new Cayenne’s centre console has also been redesigned, increasing the amount of storage space and adding two USB-C ports in the front storage compartment and two in the rear area of the centre console. The Porsche Driver Experience is a crucial feature of the new Cayenne, with a focus on creating a new, more intensive driving experience through the balance of digital and analogue elements. The new display and control concept offers a new level of interaction between the driver and the vehicle. Porsche has continued to push the boundaries of innovation and design, offering a luxurious, sporty feel that sets the Cayenne apart in its segment.
In conclusion, the new Cayenne upgraded cockpit, new interactive elements, and connectivity features are designed to offer a more immersive driving experience. With a fully digitised, intuitive and personalised interface, the Cayenne provides a seamless balance of digital and analogue elements, resulting in a unique driving experience. The Porsche Driver Experience, in particular, offers a new level of interaction between passengers and the vehicle, setting the Cayenne apart from its competitors in the luxury SUV segment.
