Yup, rad is the word that we’re getting from the multitude of reviews of the new Jaguar F-TYPE SVR model.

It’s little wonder that it’s got the likes of Top Gear, What Car? and Autocar in a tizzy, because it’s the fastest road car ever built by the British manufacturer.

Excitingly, the model does a top speed of 200mph, thanks to its power output of 567bhp – you can thank it too while you’re thrown back into your seat. Of course, you can’t legally take the new F-TYPE to the top speed, but you can certainly enjoy sprinting 0-60mpg in a cool 3.5 seconds. Enjoy the dust, other drivers!

But what does the new SVR have over the previous F-TYPE variants?

According to Autocar, the model has improved handling, which is “more composed”, making the ride feel poised and stable. The cruising option doesn’t hurt things either, which makes this model as one of the most relaxing supercar drives on the market.

Adding to this, the motor’s output is directed to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, again giving you a secure drive on the road.

The supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine is actually borrowed from the Project 7 car – a limited-run model in the F-TYPE series.

Top Gear magazine says that the changes to the suspension are a major factor in its riding comfort – you’ll notice nary a bump when you’re out and about. Similarly, the torque vectoring has been retuned in order to minimise understeer that has been an issue in other models.

Overall, the main aim of the new F-TYPE seems to be to grip the road and maintain a strong line when you’re entering a corner to then slide nicely out of it.

It sounds like this is the perfect vehicle to take to an empty racing circuit where you could really test the best of the SVR and its lightweight credentials.

No matter how high you fly, you have to come back to the ground through, which is why the new variant is fitted with carbon ceramics, helping to make the best brakes of just about any car in the industry. Top Gear adds that the new materials create the best brake feel of “any road-going Jaguar we’ve ever driven”.
