It’s that time of year again, when the great and good of the motoring world come together to celebrate everything wonderful about the coming 12 months in terms of new cars, designs, concepts and innovations.
Autosport International is a world-renowned showcase for the best new vehicles and a reminder of the sector’s successes of the previous year. So, enjoy dear friends, as the show is returning for 2019.
Taking place from January 10th to 13th at the Birmingham NEC, the event will feature a whole host of super, hyper and racing cars, all brought together to wow the crowds and set pulses racing. Here are some of the confirmed attendees for 2019:
1973 Porsche 917/30 Sunoco 996
Sure to be popular with this year’s crowd, the 5.4-litre 1973 Porsche 917/30 Sunoco 996 produces a behemothic 1,100bhp and only saw six models ever produced. Created for the open-top CanAm championship, this unique racing car will be a sight to behold.
2019 Porsche 935 ‘Moby Dick’
A very special track-only car is coming to Autosport International in 2019, the 2019 Porsche 935 ‘Moby Dick’. Designed to be reminiscent of the 1970s racing scene, the model is based on the latest 911 GT2 RS and will deliver an impressive 690bhp from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six.
McLaren 2018 MCL33 F1 Car
Another highlight for this year’s attendees will be the addition of a vehicle with true racing pedigree. McLaren’s MCL33 F1 Car featured in last year’s Formula 1 Championship and will be presented on stage alongside the team’s newest driver line-up for 2019 – Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr.
2019 Jaguar Project 8 Racecar (Series Elite)
An exclusive championship for over-50s, Series Elite will see the return of Jaguar in 2019, with the marque set to showcase its 600bhp, 200mph Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Racecar at this year’s Autosport International.
Santa Pod ‘Fireforce 3’ Jet Funny Car
Finally, and arguably the most impressive vehicle at this year’s show, the 10,000bhp ‘Fireforce 3’ Jet Funny Car from Santa Pod Raceway will be on display for eager onlookers. Described as a “rocket on wheels”, the Fireforce 3 set the world record quarter-mile top speed in 2005, clocking in at a staggering 336mph.
