Kicking off on Saturday 11th May, Street Nationals proved once again its working combination of grass-root participation motorsport and real drag racing competition from top modified car racing classes- with no speed limit!!

Plenty of makes and models were on show and there was something for everyone this year, whether you were there to take part or just enjoy the displays.

The infamous Run What Ya Brung competition started as usual with the rain on Saturday but finished on Sunday in high sunshine. A large number of people hit the notorious Santa Pod Dragstrip to see what their cars were capable of racing, one on one to the finish line – a fantastic opportunity at only £20.00 for the whole day for unlimited races!

Along with the Run What Ya Brung entrance fee, there was a chance for everyone to win a £200 Eibach Pro-Kit!

Drag racing was of course high on the agenda with real drag races of the qualifying and elimination rounds of the Jap Drag Series and Euro Sports Compact series.

The Jap Drag Series is the UK’s fastest modified Japanese cars competing in a three class championship. Incorporating Street, Factory Modified and Pro Class, these modified versions of familiar Japanese cars took spectators’ breathe away over the weekend and brought a fantastic energy along with them.

The Show Car Paddock was packed full of great looking cars including modified, classic and retro and, not only was it a brilliant way to get your car noticed, it was completely free to enter as well!

For the overnight campers the evening entertainment over the weekend was a massive success with the likes of Marc Fuccio, with 20 years of DJ experience including DJing on the Cream Tours, and Paul Cole, teaming up to make a formidable DJ/Percussion show.

Street Nationals proved popular with the clubs, with a vast number of groups booked in, making this this one event that shouldn’t have been missed! Santa Pod Raceway lane sponsors, Performance Direct, were there to capture the action…
