Audi reveals specifications for new A6 Black Editions

Audi has announced the return of its popular Black Edition specification for the A6 Saloon and Avant range.

The special releases are available in the UK now, complementing the exterior detailing of the performance-driven S line specification by adding black exterior detailing and privacy glass for the rear windows.

However, these are far from the only upgrades. The 19-inch wheels of the vanilla model are replaced by a gloss turned 20-inch V-spoke design, while the radiator grille surround gets a black finish, as do the front air intakes, door mirror housings and rear diffuser. In the Avant models, the roof rails have also been given the black treatment.

The new dark styling bolsters an already extensive lineup of equipment in the S line, which boasts exclusive styling applications at the front and rear, tauter sports suspension and more advanced LED lights than the standard A6.

As well as updating the exterior, the Black Edition brings aesthetic and technical improvements to the interior. Sports seats have been added to the front, while two full-colour touchscreen displays – the upper with a diameter of 8.8 inches, the lower with 8.6 inches – have been installed as part of the car’s touch response operating system.

Owners can also choose to add the Technology Pack, which features a range of extras, including an upgraded satnav system, enhanced voice recognition and wireless charging for QI-enabled compatible phones.

In a statement, Audi said: “The dark undertones complement an already extensive S line equipment list which enhances the body with exclusive front and rear styling applications, lowers it onto tauter sport suspension and adds even more technical appeal.”

The Black Edition specification can be combined with any of the existing mild hybrid powertrains in the A6 range, from the 204 PS four-cylinder unit that drives the 40 TDI model, to the 340 PS six-cylinder version in the 55 TFSI.
